Embrace Autumn Flavors: Delicious Caramel Pear Turnovers & Our Best Fall Recipes Round-Up!

As the leaves begin to turn and a crisp chill enters the air, there’s a magical shift in the kitchen. Autumn brings a bounty of comforting flavors and heartwarming recipes, and I’m absolutely thrilled to share this season’s culinary delights with you. This month, I’ve had the immense pleasure of gathering with some of my dearest blogger friends for our much-anticipated Recipe Round-Up, all focused on the glorious theme of “Best Fall Recipes.” My friends have truly outdone themselves, crafting an incredible collection of dishes that perfectly capture the essence of fall. I can hardly wait to dive into each one!

Inspired by the comforting request of my wonderful husband, I decided to contribute a recipe that promises both speed and sensational flavor: these incredibly quick and utterly delightful Caramelized Pear Turnovers. They are the perfect way to kickstart a cozy autumn morning or to enjoy as a sweet treat any time of day. Get ready to fill your home with the inviting aroma of baked pears and caramel!

Caramelized Pear Turnovers: A Taste of Autumn Bliss

One of the best secrets to making these turnovers incredibly fast is having a few staples on hand. I always keep a batch of pear pie filling and homemade caramel (or dulce de leche) in my fridge during this time of year. This simple foresight means these delightful pastries can come together in mere minutes, allowing us to savor their warm, flaky goodness without delay. There’s something truly satisfying about a quick recipe that tastes like it took hours to prepare, and these turnovers fit that bill perfectly.

Imagine biting into a golden, flaky puff pastry, revealing a warm, spiced pear filling generously drizzled with rich, buttery caramel. These turnovers are not just a breakfast item; they are a celebration of fall’s most cherished flavors. The natural sweetness of pears, enhanced by a hint of spice, pairs exquisitely with the deep, creamy notes of caramel. They are simple enough for a busy weekday morning but elegant enough to serve for a weekend brunch. Let’s make some magic!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry – thawed
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 3/4 cup pear pie filling
  • 1/2 cup Caramel/ Dulce de Leche

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
  • Carefully lay out your thawed puff pastry sheet on a piece of parchment paper.
  • Using a knife or pastry cutter, divide the pastry sheet into 6 equal squares.
  • In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of water and the egg white. Whisk lightly with a fork to create an egg wash.
  • Brush the edges of each puff pastry square with the prepared egg wash. This will help seal the turnovers and give them a beautiful golden sheen.
  • Place a generous spoonful of pear pie filling onto one half of each pastry square, leaving a border around the edges.
  • Gently fold the other half of the pastry dough over the filling to create a triangular or rectangular shape. Press down firmly along the edges with a fork to seal the turnover, ensuring no filling leaks out during baking.
  • Carefully transfer the turnovers to an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 14-20 minutes, or until the pastry is beautifully puffed and golden brown. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-browning.
  • Once baked, transfer the hot turnovers to a wire rack to cool slightly.
  • While still warm, transfer your caramel (or dulce de leche) to a pastry bag with a small round tip (or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off) and pipe a generous drizzle over the top of each turnover.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the delightful combination of flaky pastry, sweet pears, and rich caramel!
